Rock Court with El Duce
Posted in Uncategorized by finalcountdown on October 22nd, 2008 Well, here is one of the episodes I consider an award winner. The late, great Eldon B. Hoke aka El Duce is represented here in all of his glory. During the Cathay de Grande days, we would always kick around the idea of Duce coming up to the show and taking the piss out of all the hair bands that were around in those days. So we created the Rock Court concept and the rest is history. As usual, there was no date written on the tape so I’m going to guess that this took place circa 1985. I’m still going crazy trying to find a tape of the ultimate El Duce appearance on the Final Countdown - an outrageous Mentors interview that got me so much heat with the LMU Jesuit administration it damn near got me thrown off the air. As soon as I find it you know it’s going up here asap. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this one. FYI, the live Mentors tracks played on the show all came from the Mystic Records release ‘Mentors Live at the Whisky/Cathay De Grande’ (MLP 33107).
